This post was useful in solidifying my existing broad knowledge of the presentation of the conventions of pop genre in existing products. However it did allow me to recognise how the presentation of stars are key in pop genre music videos so that they can be idolised as significant figures.

This next survey carried out was useful to me in that it allowed me to recognise my current progress during the research and planning stages by what was presented on our blogs. This allowed me to begin to think about any changes which needed to be made in order to achieve maximum audience satisfaction and entertainment from the products in development. It allowed me to think about how successfully the conventions of pop genre are conformed to from the ideas presented about my DigiPak and music video products.

This was useful to me during the research and planning stages of the DigiPak due to the fact that it allowed me to successfully recognise how the conventions of pop genre could be applied to a DigiPak product. This allowed me to begin to think about how I would go about applying the conventions of pop genre to my own product, influencing some of the creative outcomes for my DigiPak product.

This moodboard was useful during the research and planning stage of my DigiPak, as it allowed me to explore the conventions of various existing DigiPak products conforming to the conventions of pop genre. From this I recognised that most successful pop genre DigiPaks had bright vibrant colours on the front covers making it one of the ost noticeable conventions in which the target audiences would notice straight away, invitng them into wanting to find out more about the product and brand. Furthermore the presentation of the star of group on the front cover allowed me to recognise that this was another key convention of pop genre DigiPaks as it gives a sense of star identity for the audience to idolise as being a significant figure. These conventions gained from creating the DigiPak moodboard allowed me to improve my creativity and ideas for when I eventually produce my DigiPak.

This post was useful to me as although it didnt really primarily focus on the conventions of pop genre, it focussed on the in depth analysis of specific shot types, which further broadened my knowledge and understanding of various types of shots which I could use as inspiration during the filming production stages of my music video. It also allowed me to recognise the situtations in which specific shot types are most useful. For example during times of dialogue, a mid shot or close up shot of the star is useful in presenting a sense of star theory to allow the audience to recognise their importance within a pop genre video, particularly a dance pop genre video in which multiple characters may be present.

This post was useful to me as it gave me further added knowledge and understanding of some of the conventions of pop genre that are apparent in existing products, which I could use as further inspiration to improve my creativity skills during the later production and post production stages. However by this stage, from previous research and planning, my knowledge and understabnding of the conventions of pop and how they are applied in real life exisiting circumstances is already broad enough to begin to produce my music video product. This simply solidified that exisiting knowledge.

This mindmap acted as a basic brainstrom into one of the ancillary products which needs to be produced in collaboration with the music video. It covers the basic features of what a DigiPak should include, and what personal ideas I had for the DigiPak i.e possible info and pictures to use on the front cover, back cover and insert. Furthermore this was useful to me as it allowed me to recognise and think about how I would apply the conventions of pop genre previously researched into, to the DigiPak in order to sustain a sense of house style througout the entire production.

The analysis of this particular existing pop genre product allowed me to further boost my knowledge and understanding of the conventions of pop genre overall. However in particular, this post was espeically useful to me due to the fact that it helped me understand possible shot types to use for when creating my music video product later on during the production and post production stages. It helped reinforce an existing idea I had which was to use a variety of breathable shots, in order to portray a sense of relatability and verisimilitude to the target audience which would also further conform to the conventions of pop genre in terms of partying and having fun in order to provoke a positive emotional response.
