Conventions Of A Dance Genre Video - By Cameron

This particular post helped me fully understand the conventions of pop genre to a more sophisticated detailed extent. Not only did this broaden my knowledge of the conventions of pop genre in music videos, but also acted as inspiration to improve my creativity skills which would eventually influence some of the outcomes of my music video product.

Analyses Of The 4 Main Theories Of Pop Video - By Cameron

The analysis of the 4 main theories of pop video helped me further broaden my knowledge and understanding of the conventions in which my music video product will need to eventually conform to when I begin to produce it. Furthermore it increased my knowledge on the entertainment needs in which music videos need to meet for the target audience, in order for them to idiolise the stars or band.

Response To Brief - By Cameron, Charlie, Lauren and Shondelle

This mind map allowed me to begin to brainstorm some of the basic ideas which I had for a music video. These ideas stemmed from my basic knowledge and understanding of the conventions of pop genre at this point of the research and planning stages, therefore at this stage it is highly likely that I will be making changes to the actual music video product during the time of production and post production.

Step By Step Analysis Of Arctic Monkeys - Fluorescent Adolescent - By Cameron

The analysis of this music video allowed me to broaden my knowledge and understanding of the typical conventions of pop genre music videos, particularly narrative pop videos in which a story is conveyed in a linear chronological fashion. As well as broadening my knowledge during this research stage of the production, it allowed me to recognise some of these conventions as possible influences which I could apply to my created music video product, later on during the production and post production stages.

Favourite Music Video And Why (Duke Dumont - Need U 100%) - By Cameron

My favourite music video as presented above is 'Need U 100%' by Duke Dumont. The reason I have chosen this as my favourte music video is due to its odd but followable narrative. The fact that the narrative of this video is different to anything else I have seen in any other muisic video interests me as its almost abstract but at the same time has meaning. The narrative of the video involves a man who has an old styled casset player lodged inside his stomache to which he cant get it out.

This causes music to play out of it which in the video is the actual song. This causes members of the public to spontaneously begin to dance next to him without any control. At the same time it is seen that the character doesnt enjoy this and becomes quite depressed and upset at the fact that people only show him this attention because of the music that plays out of the casset player lodged inside him.

The video ends with the character being taken to hospital and having the casset player taken out of him, which is then abruptly turnt off which stops the music. The other characters in the video then abruptly stop and resume what they are doing, no longer dancing uncontrollably.

As briefly explained here, the narrative is unusual and abstract which is why I like it, but at the same time it isnt comletely for comedic purpose as the narrative has some story and emotion to it as the character becomes upset due to the casset player being lodged inside him, hence why this is my favourite video.
