Website Moodboard - By Cameron

This post was useful to me in that it allowed me to recognise how the conventions of pop genre are applied to websites in existing products, therefore influencing some of my creative ideas which I would eventually carry out during the production stages of my website ancillary product. A key convention seen as something common throughout  most of the pop genre websites is the use of the presentation of stars as the most significant figures, used as a means to allow the audience to idolise them. Furthermore bright vibrant colours are used to attract and sustain the audiences attenton when viewing the website products, acting as inspiration for our own website product.

Established Brand Name (Mission 808) - By Cameron

Logo For 'Mission 808' (Chosen Brand Name) - By Cameron

Using the Adobe Fireworks programme, we have created our product logo. This was created by inserting a circle and skewing the edges to form this abstract design as seen above. The two circles underneath were more simply created. One was formed with the use of the doughnut shape tool and simply resized, similarly the small circle seen parallel to the doughnut shape was a circle inserted and resized. The colour scheme was created by adding a gradient to the shapes and deciding which colours would fit the theme perfectly.

Considering the theme of the product as a whole is a dance pop theme, we thought the choice of colours should stand out and be noticeable, as it compliments the idea of dancing and having fun, being lively and vibrant. Due to this we decided the colours of this logo should be black and white as these two colours contrast each other but add the effect of standing out to the audience, therefore making the logo a noticeable factor which will eventually be implemented onto our DigiPak and website. The abstract shape we have given the logo also gives the product as a whole a more modern twist, once again relating to the dance pop genre theme, as clubbing and partying is more commonly associated with modern times. It also fits the genre due to the song which is a modern dance song itself.

Overall this logo which we have created using Adobe Fireworks serves the purpose of attracting the audience to the product due to its unique shape and colour scheme as it stands out to the target audience.

Analysis Of Existing Products: Robbie Williams - Candy - By Cameron

This post was useful in solidifying my existing broad knowledge of the presentation of the conventions of pop genre in existing products. However it did allow me to recognise how the presentation of stars are key in pop genre music videos so that they can be idolised as significant figures.

Mid-Project Survey - By Charlie

This next survey carried out was useful to me in that it allowed me to recognise my current progress during the research and planning stages by what was presented on our blogs. This allowed me to begin to think about any changes which needed to be made in order to achieve maximum audience satisfaction and entertainment from the products in development. It allowed me to think about how successfully the conventions of pop genre are conformed to from the ideas presented about my DigiPak and music video products.

DigiPak Market Genre Research - By Cameron

This was useful to me during the research and planning stages of the DigiPak due to the fact that it allowed me to successfully recognise how the conventions of pop genre could be applied to a DigiPak product. This allowed me to begin to think about how I would go about applying the conventions of pop genre to my own product, influencing some of the creative outcomes for my DigiPak product.

DigiPak Moodboard - By Cameron

This moodboard was useful during the research and planning stage of my DigiPak, as it allowed me to explore the conventions of various existing DigiPak products conforming to the conventions of pop genre. From this I recognised that most successful pop genre DigiPaks had bright vibrant colours on the front covers making it one of the ost noticeable conventions in which the target audiences would notice straight away, invitng them into wanting to find out more about the product and brand. Furthermore the presentation of the star of group on the front cover allowed me to recognise that this was another key convention of pop genre DigiPaks as it gives a sense of star identity for the audience to idolise as being a significant figure. These conventions gained from creating the DigiPak moodboard allowed me to improve my creativity and ideas for when I eventually produce my DigiPak.
